I.M.A.M. organized its annual symposium to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&hp) on Nov. 23, 2019. This year’s topic involved discussion of ways to stop the fragmentation of the Muslim community using the principles of the Medina Covenant. The program began with an opening statement by Sayyid M.B. Kashmiri, Director of Religious Affairs at I.M.A.M. In his opening remarks, Sayyid Kashmiri urged all to embrace the principles of the Medina Covenant in their diverse community through unity and integration of all segments of the community.
Following the opening statement, Dr. John Andrew Morrow, the author of The Covenants of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World, gave a thorough lecture about the life of the Prophet (pbuh&hp) and how he focused on establishing peace and collaboration between the residents of Medina. Dr. Morrow urged Muslims to live by the principles of the Medina Covenant by engaging with all community members regardless of their religious or ethnic background, being socially active, encouraging solidarity, standing with the poor, and promoting tolerance. At the end of the seminar, a question-and-answer session gave the audience the opportunity to learn more about the topic.
A group of religious scholars, community leaders, officials, and intellectuals attended the seminar, in addition to observers of its live broadcast on Facebook.
