Video – You’re Not Just Starving Yourself: Extracting Physical, Spiritual and Social Benefits from Fasting
CLARIFICATION: During the webinar, Shaykh Amin Rastani was asked by a viewer whether it’s permissible for a pregnant woman to break her fast and make it up later. Shaykh Rastani gave his response but later felt that, perhaps, it would be more accurate to be in line with Sayyid Sistani’s view on this matter, which is: “A pregnant woman who is in her last two months is permitted to break her fast if she fears that it may result in harm on her or the unborn child, in fact, it might be obligatory upon her to do so, make up the fast later, and offer a fidyah. As for a pregnant woman who is between the 1st and the end of the 7th month, if fasting causes her or her child harm or unbearable hardship, it is permissible for her to break her fast, but she must make it up later and she does not have to offer a kaffarah.”
Sayyid Ali Kazmi (Seminarian & Advisor) is joined by Shaykh Amin Rastani (Researcher and Founder of Mizan Institute) and Sr. Shaheen Lakhani (Nutrition Specialist, Health & Wellness Coach) in this informative discussion about the benefits of fasting.
