Sayyid al-Khabbaz Visit – Discussion at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
In coordination with I.M.A.M., Professor Ahmad Iravani, alongside Professors Bob Destro and Marshall Berger, who teach law and legislation at the School of Law at the Catholic University of America, welcomed His Eminence Sayyid Monir Alkhabaz along with His Excellency Sayyid M. B. Kashmiri in one of the university halls.
After the normal introductory session, the participants discussed some of the most pressing critical intellectual issues in the relationship between secular laws and divine laws, including the problem of legalizing gay marriage, the standing of secular contracts among religious ones, and issues of women, inheritance, government, providence, divinity, incarnation, etc. The conversation was centered on the comparison of adjudication in the Imamia school, adjudication in Christianity and Judaism, and adjudication in the secular American law.
After two hours of live and constructive discussion, the meeting was concluded with each participant thanking the others and stressing the importance of repeating such meetings and discussions in the future.
