Death Anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&hp)

Friday, November 17, 2017, marks the death anniversary of the Seal of the Prophets:
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh&hp), 28th Safar, 1439 A.H.

Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (p) was once asked,

‘How was the prayer for the dead performed for the Holy Prophet (pbuh&hp)?’

The Imam (p) is reported to have said,

‘When the Commander of the Faithful (Amir al-Muminin), Ali (p) washed his body and placed him in the shroud and covered his body, ten persons came in and walked around him. The Commander of the Faithful, Ali (p) then stood in the middle of them and said,
“God showers His blessings upon the Prophet and the angels seek forgiveness for him. Believers, pray for the Prophet and greet him with the greeting of peace.” (33:56)
The group also continued reciting what the Imam (p) said until the people of Madina and people of Awali [a neighboring area] also said the prayer (for burial) in the same way.’”
