Community Members Remember Officer Anthony Dia
Family, friends, community members, elected officials, law enforcement personnel, firefighters and the clergy from Toledo, OH and Dearborn, MI gathered during a commemoration ceremony to pay their respects to Officer Anthony Dia, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on July 5, 2020 near a Home Depot in Toledo.
Speaking at the commemoration ceremony, Sayyid Kashmiri, vice chairman of I.M.A.M. and representative of jurist, spoke about Officer Dia’s fidelity to his community and country.
“Officer Dia was an exemplary human being and a role model for all American Muslims. He was loyal to his country, his faith, his community, and his family. We will always remember his last words: “Tell my family, I love them,” said Sayyid Kashmiri.
Officer Dia is survived by his wife, Jayme Dia and two sons, Younes and Maytham.
