Emergency Khums Authorization for Flood Disaster Relief in Pakistan and Afghanistan

Dear believers in North America,

Assalamu Alaykum.

I.M.A.M. is deeply saddened to hear about the devastating effects of the recent floods in Pakistan and Afghanistan and we offer our sincerest condolences to those who have lost loved ones. This is a catastrophic event that will result in significant difficulties for the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan and they are in need of our support.

Due to this emergency, the dire need for support, and overwhelming requests for immediate aid, I.M.A.M. received permission from the Office of His Eminence Grand Ayatullah Sayyid al-Sistani for those who live in North America to use 50% of their sahm al-Imam (aj) khums to support those who are suffering from this disaster in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and as usual, they should assign the other half to local needs through either the authorized institutions or the representatives (liaison office).

We pray that Allah gives relief to the afflicted and those suffering from this calamity, and showers His mercy upon those who have lost their lives.
